Moves, techniques, skills — all those can be taught and learned. Some people will always be better than others with physical expressions, and everyone can improve upon them, but that's the "hardware." The "software" inside us, as part of our programming, includes consistency and intensity. Most of those internal traits are driven by how strong we feel our purpose is.

“We need emotional content ...
I said emotional content, not anger!" — Bruce Lee

In Enter the Dragon (one of the most influential action films of all time), Bruce Lee reminded his student of his purpose — so that he'd kick with intensity (emotional content), rather than just going through the physical motions of performing a kick. As in his quote above, intensity is not synonymous with anger. Additionally, simply “showing up” doesn’t guarantee you’re actually present. A reminder that the "what" doesn't matter without the "why."
